Laura Liebt's #unuhotspots
Last month we gave one of our Berlin favourites Laura Liebt a scooter for a month to sweeten her hectic life juggling her hobby as a wedding photographer while also studying Communication Design. In return we asked her for the perfect route through Berlins many food and coffee spots. Ready for some all time favourites? Read on.
Hey! I'm Laura, I live in Friedrichshain in Berlin and besides studying, I regularly add all the things I love - hence the name Liebt - to my Instagram channel. I really like good food and well brewed coffee, and being able to go straight there when I have my cravings, is a dream scenario.
While I have had the pleasure of cruising around on the electric scooter I have rediscovered the meaning of being flexible and the possibility to be spontaneous. You meet a friend for a coffee and spontaneously decide to have lunch in another Kiez so you just both jump on the scooter and head there. On the unu scooter it feels like you always have at least an extra 15 minutes!
A lot of my favourite places are difficult to reach by public transportation, but with the unu theres no excuses. With the scooter I get from A to B as I like and the best part about it is that I can park it anywhere.
Here's an insight into my favourite coffee shops, the best cake places in town and my favourite lunch and breakfast spots.
Vietnamese Brunch and breakfast? That's right! If you ask me they have the best Vietnamese breakfast specialities and excellent coffee (Fair trade and roasted in Berlin!) My favourite combination is a traditional Vietnamese Cafe Phin with a Banh Mi.
Five Elephant is famous for its big diversity in coffee.. however they also have THE BEST cheesecake! I know theres many great kinds out there, but the one at Five Elephant is seriously the best. And of course you should oder an Affogato (a Vanilla ice scoop drowned by a hot espresso shot) to go with it.
The Bread Station
Just by walking past the shop you are drawn in by the satisfying smell of newly baked bread. At The Bread Station the traditional bread baking is still valued. Here you get Danish bread at its best and other sweets like cinnamon rolls are sold with love and even the wheat is grounded in the shop.
This isn't just some other kind of pizza.. it's the Zola-Pizza. That's what I say when I recommend this place to other people. The lovely atmosphere in the restaurant and the welcoming employees will always put you in a good mood and make you feel you're on holidays. But honestly, the soft pizza sourdough combined with a fruity tomato sauce, which taste like summer, is the absolute best.
Afterwards you should get your coffee fix at Concierge. It's a tiny coffee shop hiding behind a big porter window serving a delicious creamy coffee in the cutest little baby blue coffee service. That's all it takes to serve an unforgettable coffee.
Hallesche Haus is slowly turning into an all time classic in Berlin. They got it all! Delicious breakfast, a daily changing lunch menu in an impressively big bright room surrounded with beautiful plants and even a concept store where you can get handpicked design objects (from gin in beautiful bottles to handmade hammocks). In Hallesches Haus you easily get absorbed by the aesthetic surroundings and the tasty food.
